We'll head east out of Queen Anne Creek Park's Little Creek in Edenton, NC and go past the old Cotton Mill board-walk you'll see bald cypress shorelines & have nature at your fingertips. We'll kayak historic Edenton Bay waterfront after looping back hugging it's shoreline which gives exciting & unique views of this quaint, historic city. Paddle time: Approx. 2 hours. This charming 1 1/2 -2 hour paddle begins at the NC Wildlife Resources Commission Boat Ramp off NC 343. We'll launch via the platform or boat ramp and begin going upstream under the NC bridge and enjoy the peaceful waters surrounded by the variety of flora and fauna native to this area. This is a wonderfully calm, wind driven creek paddle with lined with many bald cypress and tupelo gum trees. You'll take out with the feeling of a pampered vacation. Truly therapeutic. We’ll put in at Mackey’s Marina on Kendrick Creek in Roper, NC and kayak out to the Albemarle Sound hugging the shoreline among many white cypress looking for herons, nests and river otters. Our destination will be the picturesque Cypress of the Shallow's clump of trees along the shoreline. We’ll see the Carmen Miranda of Cypresses and have a moment to shoot some pictures. Kendrick Creek has an amazing Albemarle Sound view & is a nature lovers excursion. High banks lined with a variety of unusual hardwood trees for this coastal area and a wonderful habitat for eagles, osprey, cormorant and aquatic wildlife. Mackey’s Landing is an attractive put-in spot with a popular lunch restaurant, The Landing. Paddle is 2 - 2 1/2 hours and covers about 3 miles. Age: 10+. Must be able to swim.
